It’s not too late to join the New Year, New You Challenge at the Greene County Community Center. The challenge began Jan. 6, but anyone can join through the end of the month.
The 2014 New Year, New You Challenge is a 12-week program that can be done by anyone, anywhere. Every two weeks, participants will be challenged with a new nutrition goal and a new well-being goal. Participants record daily whether or not they met the goal. “Consistency is king when it comes to change, and making small changes over time is what allows changes to stick,” said Jefferson park and recreation wellness director Simeon Lang.
Lang designed the program to be do-able for all ages. The first set of goals are to begin the day by drinking 8-16 ounces of water and to take 10 deep, relaxing breaths sometime during the day. “The habits early on will be easier, with the idea that participants continue them for the entirety of the 12 weeks,” Lang said.
There is a $20 entry fee, “because free doesn’t motivate action.” Participants who complete all 12 weeks of the program will get a JPRD T-shirt and their $20 back.
